Bauer Products respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how Bauer Products ("Bauer," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you use:

  • the Bauer Connect mobile application (the "Bauer Connect App" or "App");

  • connected Bauer products and services used with the Bauer Connect App;

  • BauerProducts.com and other websites operated by Bauer Products;

  • our online store and related e-commerce services; and

  • customer support, communications, and other services we provide.

Collectively, these are referred to in this Privacy Policy as the "Services."

Our online store is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide e-commerce functionality. The Bauer Connect App provides functionality for compatible Bauer connected products, which may include pairing with devices, managing connected products, remotely interacting with supported products, managing authorized users or access, and viewing product or activity information.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the collection, use, disclosure, retention, and deletion practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Personal Information We Collect or Process

When we use the term "personal information," we mean information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. Personal information does not include information that has been anonymized or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an individual.

The information we collect depends on which Services you use and the features you choose to enable.

Information You Provide to Us

We may collect:

  • Contact information, such as your name, mailing address, billing address, shipping address, telephone number, and email address.

  • Account information, such as your email address, username, password or authentication credentials, account settings, preferences, and information associated with your Bauer Connect account.

  • Transaction information, such as products you purchase, return, exchange, or cancel and your transaction history.

  • Payment information, such as payment method, payment confirmation, transaction details, and other information necessary to process a purchase. Payment card information may be processed directly by Shopify or our payment processors rather than stored by Bauer Products.

  • Customer support information, including information you provide when contacting Bauer Products regarding a product, the Bauer Connect App, your account, or another Service.

  • Information you voluntarily provide, such as product registrations, feedback, survey responses, reviews, or other communications.

Information Collected Through the Bauer Connect App

When you use the Bauer Connect App, we may collect or process information necessary to provide connected-product functionality, including:

  • Connected device information, such as a Bauer product identifier, serial number, model, firmware version, hardware identifier, connection status, configuration, and other information associated with a compatible Bauer connected product.

  • Device and connection information, such as mobile device type, operating system and version, App version, IP address, Bluetooth or nearby-device connection information, network information, and similar technical identifiers.

  • Connected-product activity, such as commands sent to compatible products, device status, connection events, and activity or event history associated with connected Bauer products where that functionality is available.

  • Authorized-user information, where applicable, such as information necessary to allow an account holder to authorize or manage another user's access to a connected Bauer product.

  • App usage information, such as interactions with features and screens within the App and information regarding how the App performs.

  • Diagnostics and crash information, such as error logs, crash reports, performance information, and other diagnostic information used to maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the App and compatible products.

Bluetooth and Nearby Devices

The Bauer Connect App may request permission to discover, connect to, configure, or communicate with compatible Bauer products using Bluetooth or other nearby-device technologies.

We use access to nearby devices only as needed to provide connected-product functionality requested by the user, such as discovering, pairing with, configuring, or communicating with a compatible Bauer product.

Your mobile operating system may require you to grant specific Bluetooth, nearby-device, or related permissions before these features can operate. You may manage these permissions through your device settings, although disabling them may prevent certain Bauer Connect features from functioning.

Location Information

Certain Android or mobile operating system versions may associate Bluetooth discovery or nearby-device functionality with location permissions. The Bauer Connect App may request location permission where required by the operating system or where a feature specifically requires location information.

When Bauer Connect requests location access, the App will identify the purpose for which the permission is requested. We use location information only for the disclosed functionality and do not use location information for unrelated advertising purposes.

You can control location permissions through your mobile device settings. Disabling location access may affect features that depend on that permission.

Sources of Personal Information

We may collect personal information:

  • Directly from you, such as when you create a Bauer Connect account, register or configure a connected Bauer product, make a purchase, communicate with us, or otherwise provide information to us.

  • Automatically through the Services, including through the Bauer Connect App, connected Bauer products, your device, our websites, cookies, and similar technologies.

  • From connected Bauer products, when those products communicate with the Bauer Connect App or Bauer services.

  • From service providers, including vendors that provide hosting, authentication, analytics, diagnostics, customer support, payment processing, cloud services, and other technical or business services on our behalf.

  • From Shopify, in connection with our e-commerce website and online store.

  • From other parties at your direction or with your consent, where applicable.

How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information for the following purposes.

Provide and Operate Bauer Connect

We use information to:

  • create, authenticate, and maintain Bauer Connect accounts;

  • pair and connect compatible Bauer products;

  • identify and manage connected products;

  • enable supported local or remote product functions;

  • communicate commands and status information between the App and connected products;

  • manage authorized access where supported;

  • provide product or activity history where supported;

  • deliver software or firmware-related functionality;

  • remember preferences and settings; and

  • otherwise provide features requested through the Bauer Connect App.

Provide Our Website and E-Commerce Services

We may use personal information to:

  • process payments and purchases;

  • fulfill and ship orders;

  • process returns and exchanges;

  • maintain customer accounts;

  • provide product recommendations;

  • remember preferences;

  • provide customer service; and

  • operate and improve our online store.

Maintain and Improve Our Products and Services

We may use device, diagnostic, usage, and technical information to:

  • troubleshoot problems;

  • identify crashes or errors;

  • improve App performance;

  • improve connected-product functionality;

  • develop new features;

  • analyze use of our Services;

  • maintain compatibility; and

  • improve the safety, reliability, and security of Bauer products and Services.

Security and Fraud Prevention

We may use personal information to authenticate users, protect Bauer Connect accounts and connected products, prevent unauthorized access, detect or investigate suspected fraud or malicious activity, protect our systems and users, and enforce our terms and policies.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and should not share passwords or other access credentials with unauthorized persons.

Communications and Customer Support

We use information to respond to questions, provide technical support, communicate about connected products or accounts, send important service messages, and maintain our relationship with you.

Marketing and Advertising

Where permitted by applicable law, we may use information provided through our website or commercial relationship with you to send marketing or promotional communications.

You may opt out of promotional emails using the unsubscribe option included in those emails.

We do not use location information obtained through Bauer Connect solely for targeted advertising.

Legal and Compliance Purposes

We may use personal information to comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, subpoenas, governmental requests, legal proceedings, or other valid legal process; enforce our agreements and policies; and protect the rights, safety, and property of Bauer Products, our customers, or others.

How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to operate the Services, including:

  • Service providers, such as cloud hosting, software infrastructure, authentication, analytics, diagnostics, technical support, communications, fulfillment, and other vendors acting on our behalf.

  • Shopify and payment providers, in connection with our online store, payments, orders, and e-commerce Services.

  • Connected-service providers, where necessary to operate Bauer Connect functionality, connected products, remote communications, notifications, or related infrastructure.

  • Business and marketing service providers, where permitted by applicable law and consistent with your choices.

  • Other users at your direction, for example if Bauer Connect allows you to authorize another person to access or control a compatible connected product.

  • Affiliates and companies within our corporate group, where applicable.

  • Government authorities, regulators, courts, or other parties where disclosure is required by law, valid legal process, or necessary to protect legal rights or safety.

  • Parties involved in a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of our business or assets.

We do not permit service providers to use personal information we provide to them for purposes unrelated to providing their services to us except as permitted or required by law.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

Bauer Products does not sell personal information collected through the Bauer Connect App for monetary compensation.

Our website and e-commerce operations may use cookies, advertising technologies, or Shopify services that may constitute "sharing," "targeted advertising," or a "sale" under certain state privacy laws.

Relationship with Shopify

Our online store is hosted by Shopify. Shopify collects and processes personal information concerning access to and use of our e-commerce Services to provide and improve those Services.

Information submitted through our online store may be transmitted to Shopify and to service providers located outside the country in which you reside.

Shopify's processing of information in connection with the Bauer Products online store is separate from certain data processed specifically to provide Bauer Connect connected-product functionality.

Permissions and Sensitive Device Access

Bauer Connect may request Android or mobile-device permissions that are necessary for a specific App feature, such as Bluetooth, nearby-device, notification, camera, or location permissions where applicable.

We request such permissions only when needed to provide functionality associated with the permission.

Where required by Google Play policies or applicable law, Bauer Connect will provide an in-App disclosure explaining why personal or sensitive information or device functionality is needed before requesting the applicable permission or collecting the information.

You may manage App permissions through your device settings. Some features may not function if you deny or revoke a required permission.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction, or loss.

These measures may include access controls, authentication mechanisms, secure communications, and other protections appropriate to the nature of the information processed.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:

  • maintain and provide your Bauer Connect account;

  • provide connected-product Services;

  • maintain appropriate product or transaction records;

  • fulfill contractual obligations;

  • provide support;

  • maintain security;

  • comply with legal and regulatory requirements;

  • resolve disputes; and

  • enforce our agreements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the Service involved, the user's relationship with Bauer Products, and applicable legal requirements.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, we will delete or de-identify it in accordance with our applicable retention practices, unless retention is required by law.

Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your Bauer Connect account and personal information associated with that account.

Where account deletion functionality is available within the Bauer Connect App, you may submit a deletion request through the applicable account or settings controls.

When an eligible account-deletion request is completed, we will delete personal information associated with the account unless information must be retained for legitimate purposes permitted by law, such as security, fraud prevention, transaction records, regulatory obligations, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

Information that has been anonymized or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably be associated with you may be retained.

Deleting your Bauer Connect account may result in the loss of access to connected products, configurations, history, or other App features associated with that account.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information. These rights may include:

  • Right to Access or Know. You may have the right to request information regarding personal information we maintain about you.

  • Right to Delete. You may have the right to request deletion of personal information we maintain about you.

  • Right to Correct. You may have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.

  • Right to Data Portability. You may have the right to receive a copy of certain personal information in a portable format.

  • Right to Opt Out of Sale, Sharing, or Targeted Advertising. Depending on where you reside, you may have a right to opt out of certain processing considered a "sale," "sharing," or targeted advertising under applicable law.

  • Communication Preferences. You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link contained in those communications.

  • App Permission Controls. You can manage Bluetooth, nearby-device, location, notification, camera, and other applicable App permissions through your mobile device settings.

We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests. Where allowed by law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights provided by applicable law.

Third-Party Websites and Services

The Services may contain links to websites, services, or platforms operated by third parties.

If you access a third-party service, its privacy practices are governed by its own privacy policy. Bauer Products is not responsible for the privacy, security, accuracy, or practices of third-party websites or services that we do not control.

Children's Privacy

The Bauer Connect App and other Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Where a higher age threshold applies under local law, we comply with the applicable requirement.

If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate authorization, please contact us so that we can investigate and, where required, delete the information.

As of the effective date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share, as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws, personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

International Data Transfers

Bauer Products and some of our service providers may process or store information in countries other than the country in which you reside.

Where required by applicable law, we use recognized legal mechanisms for international transfers of personal information, such as applicable Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy mechanisms.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to the Bauer Connect App, connected Bauer products, our website, our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other operational considerations.
